Jaycees,
I am excited to announce that we will finally be holding our highly anticipated guest and new member orientation on Thursday, July 29th. It is an event not to be missed! We will discuss a history of the Jaycees and give an overview of the leadership roles available in our organization. As a reminder, you do not have to be a member of our organization to attend this orientation, so if you know of anyone that may be interested in attending, please let me know. Also, if you have already attended a new member orientation but you are excited to see our exciting new orientation format, you are welcome to come to another one!
Our second event of the month will be our social hour on Tuesday, July 20th. This month, we will be hosting our first ever game night featuring the most exciting game Settlers of Catan! If you have never played Settlers before, you can find an excellent tutorial at the following link: http://www.profeasy.com/Settlers_Boardgame/index.html?mode=3. Trust me, the game is for players 8 and up, so don’t worry about it being too complicated. And NO, it has nothing to do with Dungeons and Dragons. I would compare it to a cross between Risk and Monopoly. We are hosting game night at my (and Clayton’s) house, 1408 Holly Grove Way. We will provide snacks and non-alcoholic beverages, but please BYOB. We’ll kick off the game at exactly 7:30pm, so please be on time. Can’t wait to see you there!
If you have any ideas for new places to visit in Durham for the August social hour, please let me know. We have a few anniversaries this month to mention. This month, Danielle Kaspar celebrates her 9th year with the Durham Jaycees, and Jessica Harris and Bryan Misenheimer celebrate their 8th year in our organization. Please join me in congratulating these folks for their continued service to the Jaycees.
As usual, if you know anyone who may be interested in joining the Jaycees, please send along my contact information. If someone new is coming to a meeting, please email me and I will get them a parking pass for our new meeting location.
