Greetings fellow Jaycees!
July is always a busy time of year for the Jaycees. We are working Durham Bulls games, baking cookies for Habitat for Humanity, and participating in great social events while gearing up the planning for our 2010 Haunted House.
This is an exciting time of year. It is so much fun getting to know people while working Bulls Concessions. We’ve had a lot of volunteers this year – thanks to each one of you! If you have not signed up to work one of our remaining games, please do so at one of our membership meetings. We can always use the help.
Right now, we need to really start focusing our attention on our 2010 Haunted House. We have had two Jaycees step up to co-chair the project. Rebecca King and Ben Swearingen have agreed to take on the planning of our biggest project of the year. Right now, we are still trying to nail down a location, so if you have any ideas, please email me (

) or Nicole Clark (

) so we can check them out.
We are also starting our Haunted House committee meetings. Our first meeting will be held Wednesday, July 13th at the R. David Thomas Center (6:00 pm). We welcome all of our members to these planning meetings. Serving on this committee is a great way to get involved! Our Haunted House is hard work, but the rewards we get by giving to our community are tremendous.
We have some very fun events planned in the coming weeks. New member orientation will be at Brooke and Clayton’s house on July 29th. Brooke and Clayton are also hosting a “Settlers of Catan” game night at their house on July 20th. I hear the game is ridiculously fun, so make plans to attend.
Thanks for all that you are doing for Durham. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
In Service to Humanity,
Laurie Hyland
