The warm days of spring seem to have come early. With the change in weather….March madness is here! Fill out your FREE ACC Brackets Challenge at our membership meeting on March 8th. See how you do against your fellow Jaycees! We will also be filling out a membership survey, so let us know what you think! In keeping with our membership theme of the evening, our Membership VP, Catherine Thomas, will be telling us about herself in a membership spotlight. These are always fun so come learn interesting facts about your fellow Jaycee! We are continuing our monthly membership socials on the 3rd Tuesday of every month, unless otherwise noted. These will be held in various locations around Durham. Our next membership social will be combined with book club. The book is A Pearl in the Storm: How I Found My Heart in the Middle of the Ocean by Tori Murden. We will meet on Tuesday, March 15th at 6:30pm at Rockfish Grill, Southpoint Mall. Come out to socialize even if you have not read the book. Our 2nd membership meeting of the month, March 22nd, is our annual Distinguished Service Awards (DSA) Banquet. This is where the Jaycees recognize those who have made above and beyond contributions to Durham and its citizens. We are very honored that our speaker for the evening will be our 2010 Outstanding Young North Carolinian (local and state level winner) Kevin Davis of Bull City Rising! We will be participating in the Great Human Race on Saturday, March 26th. Come out to run, walk, or work the Durham Jaycees information booth! Donations can be made via check to the Durham Jaycees or online at: http://www.active.com/donate/ghr2011/durhamjaycees2011 On Tuesday, March 29th at 6:30pm we will have a membership social/new member orientation. This will be a movie night at Station Nine Apartments. We will be watching Bull Durham, the classic movie set in Durham! Don’t forget to invite friends, colleagues, neighbors, etc to visit a meeting or event. All are welcome! Service to humanity is the best WORK OF LIFE!
