Fellow Jaycees, January has just flown by and as we get more into the year the opportunities to get involved are just popping up left and right. We wanted to give you plenty of opportunity to mark your calendars for some upcoming Jaycee events both social and community oriented. Saturday, February 11th join us at 1pm for a tour of Triangle Brewery. Come socialize with your fellow Jaycees and enjoy free beer tasting. Wednesday, February 22nd from 6-8pm we will be volunteering at Welcome Baby located at 721 Foster Street. We will be sorting and hanging up baby clothes for their Giving Closet that provides free children’s clothes for families in need with children ages birth to 5yrs old. Thursday, March 8th we have a volunteer opportunity with Urban Ministries. Please come out to volunteer at their Empty Bowls fundraiser at the Durham Armory. Most volunteers will need to be there at 4pm but some can come later. The event is from 5:30 to 8pm. There will be a afterparty at Fullsteam Brewery where ALL of the Durham food trucks will be donating a portion of their profit to Urban Ministries. It should be an incredibly fun night. If you are interested, please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and be sure to include any time restrictions. Karen will need to provide urban ministries with a head count for volunteer assignment purposes. Just a reminder our two February membership meetings are Tuesday February 14 and February 28th. Our First meeting of the month on Tuesday, February 14 is at the Thomas Center on Duke’s campus with dinner being served as usual. We know its Valentine’s Day, but consider bringing out a friend or your sweetheart. Our second meeting on February 28th will be at the Durham Main Library in the Auditorium. The Auditorium is on the first floor and is one of the first rooms you can enter coming in from the parking lot. After this meeting, we will be heading over to Alivia’s located at 900 W. Main Street in the Brightleaf district for dinner and drinks. Come socialize with your fellow Jaycees and get to know a little more about what Durham has to offer. Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to make your Jaycees experience better. New ideas and suggestions are always welcomed. In service to Humanity, Catherine Thomas Durham Jaycees 2012 President This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it |
