Why Join the Jaycees?

If you’re a young professional in Durham, you might be looking for ways to meet new people, build your leadership skills, and give back to the community. We’re passionate about these things too!

Meet New People

Whether you’re new to the area, or a Durhamite looking to expand your circle of friends, the Jaycees offers lots of opportunities to meet and get to know others. In addition to monthly dinner meetings, we hold several social and volunteer events each month.

Build Your Leadership Skills

Since 1938, The Durham Jaycees (short for “Junior Chamber”) has been a vital proving ground for future leaders of Durham. Our notable alumni have become mayors, city and state legislators, and business leaders. We often host speakers from local organizations and businesses at our monthly meetings, which is another great way to make connections and learn something new. In addition to meetings, we regularly host professional development workshops throughout the year.

Give Back to the Community

The Jaycees have also been a vital philanthropic force in the community for years. We work with a variety of local community-based organizations, like Habitat for Humanity, Urban Ministries of Durham, and Crayons2Calculators, to address issues like hunger, homelessness, and education.

Check It Out for Yourself

To see if the Jaycees would be a good fit for you, we’d love to have you join us at one of our events. Most events are free and open non-members.

We hold meetings the second Tuesday of each month. You can RSVP via our Eventbrite page. Meetings are free and a light dinner is provided.
